Family
History Millie was born to Garrett and Priscilla Bulstrode at home in the little town of Puddlemere. Garrett and Priscilla had met five years earlier in Iran when Garrett had come on a scouting trip recruiting for his team Puddlemere United. It hadn’t been love at first sight with Priscilla being disgusted by his rough edges. Eventually he won her over, actually through a bar fight when some idiot grabbed her arse.
While Garrett’s family was very much into the Pureblood heritage way of thinking, Garrett himself had been proven differently if only by the skills of the non-pureblood players on his team. He thought the whole nonsense was out of control, but was only willing to go so far in speaking against his father.
When he announced he had brought home a wife from one of his trips the family had held their breath wondering what he had brought home. To their relief Priscilla was from an old pureblood Iranian family and although she too subscribed to some unusual way of thinking (i.e. not interested in blood status) was otherwise wholly acceptable as a Bulstrode bride.
Millie’s birth was supposed to be the highlight of their marriage, but instead it was the end. Priscilla died during childbirth and Garrett was left to raise their daughter alone. The small family did well; Garrett took Millie pretty much everywhere with him until she had to attend primary school. He had thought about getting a tutor but decided she needed the socialization.
Unfortunately, Millie was very tall and kind of chubby for her age, and school soon became a place of torment for her although she did manage to have a couple of good friends. Instead, home and being with her father was her refuge. Garrett had lucked out having a daughter who loved Quidditch as much as he did. As soon as her homework was done, she would be out on the pitch yelling at the players almost as much as he was.
All too soon, it was time for Millie to go to Hogwarts, where everything changed. Sorted into Slytherin, Millie soon learned that her size made her a wonderful bully, something that certain people encouraged in various ways. During the summer of her sixth year Millie had, had some hard truths presented to her. She had come home after her fifth year to find out that he father wasn’t pleased to find out she had been a member of the Inquisitorial Squad and proceeded to tell her how very disappointed he was in her.
Most of that summer he explained what those who followed the Dark Lord really believed in and how it would affect people she knew, like various players on the team. When Millie returned to Hogwarts that fall, she was ready to turn over a new leaf or at least not continue on the paths she had been on.
That year and the year that horror that followed Millie stayed quiet and kept her head down focusing only on her studies. Certainly, she kept certain alliances in her house but she didn’t encourage the madness some of them followed. During the war she helped the staff keep the younger years calm while they took refuge not wanting to know what was going on outside.
When the smoke cleared, Millie was one of the students who stayed at Hogwarts to help clean up and rebuild. She was stricken by bouts of depression and guilt from memories during the war that eventually cumulated into a severe case of anorexia. After a stay at Serenity Springs clinic on the Isle of Avalon, Millie was well enough to start the Healer Training program at St Mungo’s in the Poisons and Plants dept. After three years in the program Millie took the exams and passed her qualifications to attain the level of Junior Healer.
Other information Millie had started dating George Weasley in January of 2004 and she was really starting to like him. She also loves shopping in Muggle shops; she has a lot more courage to go there where no one knows her than risk humiliation at Wizarding Shops.
Amnesty information: What was your character's Amnestyverse self doing? Working as a clerk in the MLE.
Other pertinent information: Gardening, muggle cinema, playing her guitar
Writing sample:
Millie looked between Oliver and her dad and shook her head. She hadn’t really planned on getting this involved but clearly they were going to be pigheaded blokes about it.
“Alright, so if it’s self-defense that’s what we present to the paper and if they don’t want to run the truth we send it off to the Quibbler, it would serve them right to loose readership because of the shite they write.” She held he hands up in front of both of them to make sure they let her speak her piece.
She glared at her dad for bringing up the girlfriend being on another team aspect. He should know by now he couldn’t dictate who his players were involved with. “So we’re going to try to keep the child out of the whole situation but Oliver, you have to know the publicist has to spin this in away that you and the team doesn’t loose fans or sponsorship. Since we have the Auror report we don’t have to go with romantic hero, but it would sell well. Witches love a wizard who’s willing to go to lengths to defend his witch.”
